Thanks for stopping by!!

I have found so much inspiration that I have started sharing my own addiction of tablescaping. Please feel free to join me as I enter my journey and share my passion for decorating with all my lovely little "treasures".

I decorate my home with vintage, thrift store, yard sale and hand me down items. I shop ebay with a vengance for dinnerware and glassware, the postal service must adore me!

I am very casual, but a bit fussy when it comes down to details. I have spent two thirds of my life in the south, but the southerners say my "nothern side" still comes out! I am guessing this is not such a good thing....and visa versa when I am around my northern relatives, "give me a break"!

Join me any way.......I hope we can be blogging buddies no matter where we all live :)

Tuesday thrifting in our home town!

Well in case you didn't know....Tuesday is thrift store day for me!!  The  thrift stores mostly close down around here on Mondays and open up on Tuesdays with all kinds of new little goodies.

Today  Anika , Bunny and I (my friend Jennifer, how do you like your new knick name Jen?) hit all the shops in town!  Well, all the stores we had time for any way.  I introduced her to all my "peeps".  These are all the folks who already know I am addicted to the thrift stores.

Although Donna does not have a thrift store, I had to bring Bunny in to see here stuff!  Donna owns a wonderful gift shop in our town called "The Lion's Crest".  She has some of the neatest stuff.  I go there every time I need something new and unique for a tablesacpe, if I need a special gift or if I just need a special colored candle...I know she will have it!
Look what else I found there!  I thought a little somebody from "Kissed by a Frog" might find this cute!  Seems all your blogs are starting to be stuck in my little brain.
These are a couple of Barbara's kids over at Robins thrift store.
Her store is packed to the rafters.  She has moved because she just has so much stuff!  I always find treasure here.....mostly curtains.  My daughter adores going here because she takes prom dresses on consignment and, well she loves to go and drool.
I only took a picture of her son's arm because he is to big and mean looking and he might scare ya'll.

Okay, If you wanna meet some wonderful, sweet, incredible people.....head to Charity Treasures!!  These three make your trip to this thrift shop like meeting old friends.
Now I can tell you Lilly's name (she's on the left) because she is the sweetest of the bunch.  I have met some great married couples in my life and this is yet another one!  You can tell they are still in love after years and years of marriage and I find that soooo refreshing.  Now they will have to remind me of the names of course and I know they are family, but please remind me if this is your daughter?  I know you threatened to fire her.....yes, I do believe you would fire one of your own (just kidding) They run the CLEANEST thrift store in town!  All the clothes are spot free, the merchadise is orderly and one heck of a friendly staff...what more do you need!!
My two favorite partners in crime, Anika and Bunny!
Opportunity House,
our local thrift store supports or local homeless shelter.

Newest thrift store in town has buy one get one free on Thursdays!!
Guess where I am on Thursdays?

The fine ladies are at our local "Habitat for Humanity" They don't seem to mind (too much) wrapping it all so nice for us, making sure we have nice sturdy boxes and giving us a nice little deal ;) if we buy a ton of stuff.
These are not the two ladies....(umm I had to take that pic down )sniff sniff and replace it with this one!

I love knowing that our money goes to our local folk who are in need of decent housing.  They are always so cheerful.  Some places in town can be a little grumpy...ummm I don't want to spend my money with grumpy people !
This is the only thing I bought today that I am willing to "show of".
Picked up at Robins thrift shop for $1.00 is a Croscill fingertip tassle embelished towel.  I have looked for something for this shelf for weeks and today.......there it sat!
Okay you will have to keep looking for tablescapes to see what other wonderful little treasures I found today!

Oh it was so much fun~but boy am I tired.  Anika had to run 3 miles afterwards (bless her heart) and then we hit Dairy Queen for dinner.
It's 11:25 and it's time to call it a day.
Good night everyone

Goodnight Bunny!

Playing Dishes

Anika is my 15 year old daughter.  Her and I did a little tablescaping today.  We split a table in half and we each took and end.
As you can see, we both came up with very different versions of table settings!  Mine a darker richer color scheme, hers subdued and soft.
I just recieved my Sakura bowls with cherries in the mail today so I had to play with them!  My little tiny red bowls came from Home Goods a few days ago and I have the "shouldas" cuz I only nabbed 4!  A big red tissue paper flower that I learned how to make from a tutorial on Utube, is my centerpiece.  Oh my new flatware from Amazon which I totally adore!
Here is the link for the silverware: Hampton Forge San Remo 20-Piece Flatware Set with Black Handles, Service for 4

I threw in the Coke glasses at the very last second because I thought about cherry Coca~Cola....how cool is that? what a neat drink to have with dinner with these setting!
 :*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~

.

This is Anika's first tablescape on the blog.
She did a GREAT job don't you think?
She redid it over and over soooo many times and every time it looked a little different.
There were a couple of times I wanted to stop and help, but I DIDN'T!
She did it by herself and I am proud.......she even wants to do it again, but I see she is laying down right now with her eyes closed ~Giggle!
She took her own pictures and edited them all by herself too....way to go girl!!
It was a lot of fun to "play dishes" with her.....I hope she will never be too old to have this kinda fun with mom again!!

I LOVE YOU MY ANIKA!

A New Country!

When I see my blog some mornings I get very excited!  There happens to be a "hit" from a new country and it just tickles me pink!  Although I will never know who it is or where in that country it comes from, it still makes me smile :)

I hope if you are stopping by from another country or just down the street, you would leave a comment and let me know where you are from.  I would like to know who stopped by to wander around and I would like to personally say "Hi"!
I saw someone from Argentina, Germany, Denmark, Austraila and Canada. So I guess I am saying "WELCOME to all of you thank you for stopping by and coming back!"

Back To Health

Just so we are clear....I was sick!  Ewww some kinda of junk settled up in my brain (head cold, sinus infection?).  I had a fever and everything.  I pulled out my bedside vaporizer, took plenty of drugs and I am BACK!

Although I was still not 100% while making this little table, I still like it.  The greens and the pinks make me feel good and that cheers me up with all the rain we have been having.  My new flatware from K-mart (yes K-mart) it was saying "come and get me!" so I had to take it home.  It was cheap and it feels cheap folks, not for a formal affair at all, not even sturdy enough for every day :(  Pretty for a picture and that is it!

White dinnerware was a purchase from JC Penney a few years back and I use it plenty! Vintage frosted green glasses from good old ebay.  Oh the cupcake cloche, wish I would have bought 7 more but alas I bought one (stupid stupid stupid) can you see them at every place setting? I do that ALL THE TIME.....then the case of the "shouldas" follows.

I am just so busy planning my fourth of July celebration that time is getting away from me.  I have purchased so much red white and blue that I swear I will have to buy a building to store it all.  I want it to be perfect so I can take some great pictures.  At this point I really don't care if my guests show up (yes, I do) but I am more excited about the decorating and the picture taking and the outcome.....

Did you ever..........

Work on a tablescape for a VERY long time, I mean all day and still kinda HATE it?  I don't know what happened to me today, but I just didn't "feel it".

Generally when I take out my pink dishes I am at my happiest.....ummmm not even the bears did it!  Foo bear, Isabella and this tiny little girl with no name didn't do it for me.
So I gave up and it is still sitting there!
(insert sad face here!)
Maybe in the morning something will make the table inspire me? Breakfast maybe? Until then the bears will have to just sit there and wait patiently for my return.
:*~:*~:*~:*~:
I may be running a fever, I better go check lol!

This is my friend Jennifer's table.  I snapped some pictures when I was visiting one night.

Unlike me, she is very serious when it comes to her tablescapes.  She researches, thinks things over, contemplates and then thinks some more.  Me?  I am more spontaneous.  I see something I like, I grab!!   If I don't buy something I like, I have get a terrible case of  "I shouldas".  This happens a lot more when an item I pass up was just a couple of dollars, like the seahorse bowls and cups in a previous post.  (they came in white, but I turned them down and now I cannot find any more!)

Jennifer is more into "substantial" pieces (there's that word again).  She loves muted colors, texture and nature.  Can you tell? Her home has just a "few" birds sprinkled here and there.  Muted greens (green being her favorite color) weathered patinas and a very warm and inviting look.  I will have to take you on a tour some day......it looks as though she has lived there forever and all her pieces have been collected ever the generations.  Some have and other pieces are brand new and yet she has the eye to make them blend to make everything look cohesive.

She is my new shopping buddy.  Her son and my daughter are sweethearts.  If you look back at some of the posts you will see them or remember them and their Valentine dinner and their prom.  We have A LOT in common! The kids, our love of God, our desire to make our houses pretty, we really aren't that fond of cooking (but we have the need to serve what we make on pretty plates!) And to top it off we have the worlds best hubbies!! (Steve? if you are reading this? I will deny that I said that!)

What's in the trunk of your car???

I don't know about anywhere else, but where I live......all the thrift stores (well most) are closed on Monday.  On Tuesday they re-open full of all kinds of wonderful treasures from the weekends yard sales.  So of course, most Tuesdays are spent on the thrift store circuit.

I had a dentist appointment (Oh yipee a wisdom tooth at my age needs to come out, this sounds like fun!) and after that it was ON!
My favorite place to go is Habitat fo Humanity.  They generally have the best dishes and most of the time I can find a set.  A set of Haviland for $8.50!!  Of course all the peices are not there, but I will mix and match.  A set of the coolest plastic glasses that resemble ice (I already have some of these yay!) Some plain ivory bowls and underneath my pile some very colorful plates that I am not showing.  They are a secret for something special.  Oh and I had to buy these *:Awesome:* shoes...check out those heels, they are acrylic!  Never worn, still in the box not a thing wrong with them.  Everyone giggled when I tried them on because they even matched what I had on, perfect fit, perfect match......had to take them home for $6.00.  No, I didn't wear them all day to the thrift stores, that would have been silly (I thought about it though).
My great adventure!  I was so excited that I just took my treasure home.  I did stop by my friend Jennifers house tonight. She had a beautiful table scape to share and I will post it shortly.  She loves the more subdued colors, nature, birds, twigs, texture......I like to tease her as I can make do with the whimsical "froo froo stuff", but she really needs SUBSTANTIAL!   We are so silly together sometimes, but as she says we "get" each other when it comes to all this decorating stuff.

SSssh

We are pretending it's still  the middle of the night.  Of course this is just my latest little tablescape, but it's fun to pretend.

My 15 year old daughter Anika and I, spent the morning playing with this one.  She laughed because there were two glasses ond only one plate at first.

We took a ton of pictures and were sure we had plenty of good ones to share, but........We cleaned up and then we noticed they were all kinda out of focus, to dark or blurred.  Darn, never clean up before you look at the pictures(lesson learned!).

That's me and my wonderful hubby in the background, smooching on our wedding day.  Gosh I love him. He is an amazing man and he doesn't seem to mind that I have all this need for pink things, a million dishes, tablecloths and flatware and such. He takes it in stride and loves me and occasionally joins me in the hunt, for that perfect treasure I have been looking for!

Let's Go to the Beach!

If you don't get time to go to the beach this year, this is the table for you!  I have set it with my brand new hand painted  seahorse tableware in the most luscious shade of aqua blue.  I can almost hear the surf in the back ground.
The color is so soft and serene that it almost makes you wanna take your shoes off and find some beach sand somewhere.  All that is missing here is some cool salt water air and maybe a drink with an umbrella in it, (why didn't I think of that?)

I wish I could have found more of these dishes, but after a lengthy search this was it!  Dinner for two is it, but why ruin this romantic night with more than you and that special someone anyway?  Just the two of you and some music~~~Right?

Let the Fireworks Begin!

Had to do this one for the one who left for boot camp!
I LOVE YOU ERIK!
Thank you for for serving our country, but dang we are going to miss you!

Go and be a Marine.....we will be right here when you get home.

Until then......God watch over you.
Oorah!

 p.s.
Anika says "I am so proud of you.  Mom and dad watch me for you just like you asked :)"
