A few of my favorite things

My little dainty, pink Lefton hands.  What could they hold?  Well I see them holding pearls all the time, but they could be holding anything really.  A little plant, a child's heart, precious jewelry, a love note? The possibilities are endless.  I just fell in love with the roses and the color, the curves of the hands and the age of the piece.  Who owned this before me and what did she place in the hands for safe keeping?

My porcelain cheese dish covered in pink roses.....I suppose it could be a butter dish too, but I will never use it.  I can only imagine who's table it graced and why there is not a single chip in it.  Was it as precious to them as it is to me?  Was it only for special occasions?  One could assume it was never used around the children or there would be a chip in it somewhere!  An ebay purchase where it was practical to spell wrong because this little gem was $1.99 for the seller misspelled a word in her listing (though I cannot remember which one).

 Ivory and pink roses.  Gosh does it get any dreamier?  Nope it doesn't!  These to me just say yummy!  I found the pink and green sprays of  "babies breath" at one of the dollar stores and knew I had to have them for something  and this is where it ended up, perfect!  You know sometimes you see something in a store and you know someday you will find a place for it, but you don't know when?  Well I had this stuff packed away and then it just jumped into my little brain, "where is that stuff?"  :*~TADA:*~ treasure found!  I have treasure hidden everywhere waiting to be found.  It's nice when it works out this way! 
My pink painted wooden candle sticks have been around forever!  They have been various colors from white, green, brown I think and then back to pink.  Wrapped in pearls and curling ribbon and then adorned with a simply little swag of pink roses, they delight me so.  Something so simple and yet filled with such whimsy fills my eyes and makes my day just a little more pleasant.  

On the other side of the room I find a wine glass I dragged with me from Florida, another relic from the past.  I smile as I recognize it and see that it is filled with treasures from my more recent history.  Vintage hankies adorned with roses, either printed or embroidered. 

What makes us collect what we do?  What makes our eyes forage through flea markets and garage sales for one certain item?  Why do we treasure a color?  Some of us live in a treasure house and scrimmage for our next  "find" like we are on a mission, while others think we are silly.   I could spend a whole day in a corner of my house on a tablescape and enjoy myself the whole time......while somebody else could just throw the mail down on that very same table along with the keys, a bottle of water, gloves, McDonald's trash, some three day old half eaten sandwich and be perfectly content?  What makes us different?

 

Valentine's Day is coming....it's pink too!

 Oooh when did something look THIS yummy at your house?  I could sit by this table and snack all day!  I got out my vintage Wheaton apothecary jars and filled them up with all kinds of little treats, treats that nobody can touch of course, well maybe after Valentine's Day!:*~:*~:*~:*~ :*~:*~

I bought sweetheart candies and took out all the colors except the green and pink ones, well I left a few white ones in there too,  Next I found strawberry flavored, heart shaped marshmallows, and filled up a plastic candy jar.  This "jar" cost me a whole 25 cents at a yard sale, I love yard sales.  I do have another lovely apothecary jar halfway filled with white and light and dark pink M&M's on the other side of the table, but I know they won't last long........so why take the picture right? :*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*~:*

I know Valentine's Day is still a few week's away, but it's always nice to do a little pre-holiday decorating.  I won't go crazy like I did with Christmas, just a few little hearts here and there and some candy for display to make it whimsical.  Life should be fun, interesting, why should every day be plain, ordinary when I can make it amusing with a few little pink hearts?:*~:*~:*~

I am sure before the actual day arrives, I will find plenty more little trinkets and treasures to display on my "candy table".  There has to be plenty of pink candy out there that I haven't spotted yet right?  I am just waiting for my little neighbor girl Kailey to come over for a visit because she adores this kind of stuff.  The "girly gir"l in her will be drooling!:*~:*~:*~:*~


Are you planning on making a little holiday display of your own, would you like to share it?  I would love to post a picture of it! There is no such rule that I know of that says your hearts have to be red or even pink for that matter.....Maybe you decorate with natural materials or you are all glitz and gold?  I could imagine a whole display of chocolate, couldn't you?  I would be right there though, sneaking a little tiny nibble every chance I had!:*~:*~:*~
